My Beautius Scrap Space

OK... I have been a very bad Blogger, but I have a good excuse... I overhauled my scrap space AGAIN! I know I just did that a few months ago but it wasn't the way I wanted it, so I finally got some brackets and shelves and made kind of a built in out of a 5 foot corner in a room. It isn't the most beautiful room I've ever seen but it was pretty cheap to do (about $100.00 for the shelves, brackets etc. and another $100.00 for some additional storage drawers and boxes to add to the ones I already had). I have organized everything as it went back into drawers... everything has a space now and it is so much easier to find things... we'll see how long this lasts!! ;)

Isn't it Beautius?! I love it! And I crammed everything (as neatly as possible of course!) into this one corner, so it takes up waaay less space than it used to!

This is my little stool, it's not ideal but it'll do for now. My ideal seat I think would be something like a piano bench... one because I like to curl up my legs sometimes and there aren't a whole lot of safe ways to do that on this little tiny stool! And two, I would like to add more storage for rarely used items and storage in a bench would be perfect!

I bought those black photo boxes at Walmart and organized all my non-digi photos into categories such as events, travel, people, pets, scenery etc. I also want to replace the pizza boxes on the top shelf with something a little more aesthetic but for now they'll do!

I bought the 3 white sets of drawers at Walmart also. I think Kent Building Supplies sells similar drawers as well. The middle one keeps all my cardstock, the one on the right keeps oversized flowers, adhesives and specialty items like overlays etc., and the set on the left keeps wooden stamps and paper stacks. The black baskets on top of the drawers keep my paints, stickes and glitter glues, pens and markers etc. All of my CTMH sets are bursting out of the one box and my sets that fit in cd holders are in a cd holder that I bought at Staples ( they can also stack vertically). All other stamp sets are in that black binder in heavy duty page protectors (also from Staples) that have a flap at the top so things don't fall out.

This area still needs a little work. I may go looking for a narrow drawer stand and then re-arrange some stuff, not sure yet, it's an odd little space left over, I'll have to think on it for a while.

My clip-it-up is packed to the rafters, so I also have a drawer for this type of stuff that catches the overflow! I keep all my rub-ons, stickers, masks and a wide variety of stuff on here.

Finally, I had to show you my table, because I keep a lot of crap on it! It feels naked if I don't have all this stuff next to me... all my most used adhesives (glue dots always and I am in love with Zip Dry right now... that's me finishing up my very first bottle on the table there and I only bought it in April! Wish I had bought more than 2!). I don't know why I have 4 pairs of scissors, but they are all different and I like them for different things. I have my mini misters, 2 always with water and on with walnut ink mixed up in it (although I can't remember the last time I used walnut ink). My little jar with sponges in it, paintbrushes, glue pens, markers, pencils, sanders etc. You name an essential and it's likely in this mix! Als I ALWAYS keep a nailfile in this area... you wouldn't believe how many times I've broken a nail scrapping! Seriously... it's a dangerous hobby!

I know that was a little long winded but I just love my new space and wanted to share! If anyone has any ideas how to improve anything, I'd love to hear them! Especially about that little odd space! ;)

Scrapping older Photos

I recently sorted some old photos that I'd taken before I had a digi camera... sounds funnynow... I barely remember those days! But... I found some that I really wanted to scrap... most were not fantastic photos but they marked times in my life I wanted to remember... so for the past little while I've been walking down memory lane and getting some pages crossed off my "to do" list.

Here are a few of the ones I've done... I have more but I don't want to overload ya!!

National Scrapbook Day

I know it's a few days past National Scrapbook Day, but I was in another province on the actual day and couldn't get online (well... reliably anyway!). I was attending a crop put on by the wonderful ladies at the Scrap Shack in Moncton, NB. This was my third year going and every year is even more fun that the last! Learned some new stuff and even blew my last year record of 2 LOs for the week-end out of the water with 6 whole LOs this year!!! (I think sometimes I do too much talking/shopping and it really cuts into my actual "cropping" time! ;) I didn't take any pictures... again... but I will see if I can "borrow" someone else's to share with you!

Thanks Shirley, Debbie and Amy for another great year! I already can't wait till next year!

I Love Playing With New Stuff!

Since my return home from ScrapFest, I have been scrapping like crazy! All the new Goodies have me totally inspired and the MoJo is definately flowing! So here are a couple of the layouts that I've done the past couple days...

This one uses the new Heidi Swapp paper (which I didn't buy nearly enough of!) Most of the sheets were so graphic and bold... I just loved them! I also used one of the 5th Avenue spiral bound journal boxes and some cool clear ribbon that I bought by the yard so I have no idea the manufacturer but it's totally cool (I wish I bought more of this too! ;)

And here are some of the details close up....

For this LO I used the new Fancy Pants "About A Boy" line. Again I'm in love with the colors, if it's bright and bold, I totally want it! Initially I wasn't too excited about a FP line called "About A Boy" but then Michelle took me down to the marketplace and showed it to me... Thanks Michelle!!! ;)

And here are some close ups of the details for this one too...

ScrapFest

I had such a great time at ScrapFest! Sorry I am just now getting around to posting about it! Here is the ScrapCentral gang (minus a few) outside our VIP room! There were 19 of us in total that were able to go and it was so much fun getting to meet everybody for the first time, even though it felt like we all knew one another! I wish I could do this every month, and if I get the chance, I definately want to go back next year!

Bobbi-Lynn was so sweet to let Teresa and I stay with she and her family and they all treated us like gold. I am sure she is the reason ScrapCentral feels like home to so many of us! Thank you Bobbi-Lynn and thanks to your family for putting up with us for 2 days!!

I also got to meet Lucy, who so kindly dropped us off at the airport with her handy dandy GPS! I`ve known Lucy from both ScrapCentral and Scraphoria so it was a special treat to meet her as well and finally put a face and voice to the talent I`ve come to admire!

Now that the mushy stuff is over... the shopping and classes were fantastic! I bought so many goodies but some of the stuff I picked up that I`m most excited about were some Spellbinders dies, the new Dew Drops and Stix 2 Anything. I`ve already started playing and will post some pics soon, so stay tuned!

As for classes I took 2 from Jen Starr and one from Vicki Boutin. Each class exceeded my expectations and I came out with some great projects and some new skills too! And both ladies are super sweet!

Big Post... Lots to share!

First... Here are the canvases I promised to share... They were my very first attempts, so be kind ;)

The first is kind of inspired by the wizard of OZ, and I tore the illustrations out of a copy of a book. They really are just fun to do but I have no idea what to do with them now... I think a bunch of them on a wall would look really cool maybe.

Here's my second canvas. I think I like it better maybe although it didn't take nearly as long to do as the first one. The word in the circle is WANDERLUST because it's my favorite word right now... I am feeling the urge to travel and go somewhere... unfortunately it is not in the cards right now, so this week-ends trip to Ontario will have to tide me over!

OK... that brings me to my second bit of Information... I am a Scraphoria Apprentice! What does that mean?? Basically there are three of us that are apprentices and at the end of 6 months one of us will be added to the Design Team... clear as mud? You will have to check out the site and follow our progress... the other two Apprentices are amazing and it's worth the click just to check out their work! So huge congrats to Jennifer and Danielle! Can't wait to work with them and the DT. Check it out... it's cool! ;)

Now... the last bit of news it that I leave for Scrapfest on Thursday! Woo-Hoo!!! The event actually starts on Friday and I am going to get to meet a ton of other women that I chat to on ScrapCentral. I am stoked! I think there are 19 of us in total going from one site and we even have our own VIP room at the event! How lucky are we??? I am sure I will have a ton of photos to share when I get back!

That's pretty much it for now!

Spring Cleaning

I have totally been bitten by the spring cleaning bug this year! I've unloaded, cleaned, painted and reloaded! So my scrap stuff is currently in a state of reorganization! It feels so good to have a place for everything and to purge the things I realistically know I don't need. And with Scrapfest coming up this weekend it was the perfect time to make room for some new stuff too! ;)

I've done my first two canvases too! I'll try and post pics later (in the light of day!). I just Love Donna Downey and her blog, and have long been inspired by her paintings so I finally tried my hand at them too. There will be more in my future! I love playing with paint!
